The hard disk was formatted and everything re-installed last month using the HP Recovery Disk utility provided with the machine. This is because the HP DVD Writer 740b sudddendly stopped writing blank CDs and DVD. I hope the problem of fatal error disappearing after formatting but unfortunately not.
